Sharon is the last born in a family of three siblings. She is in primary grade Eight at Rawinji primary school. She lost her mother in 2010 when she was a small kid. Years later her got very sick and became mentally incapacitated. His father became very wild to an extent he couldn’t interact with anyone. He burnt to ashes his home with everything in it. Sharon and his brothers were rescued by the neighbors who heard the commotion and the cry. Since then Sharon has been under the guardianship of her grandmother who a widow and too old to provide for herself. Sharon was referred to Still hope by the principle of her school who had noticed her challenges. She is an average student with ability to do much better given and opportunity. She praying to get a sponsor who will support her to achieve her dreams of becoming a nurse when she grows up. She likes singing and playing netball.

Laura Atieno was born out of wed-lock when her mother dropped out of high school at form three. Her mother late died when in 2009 when she joined a teaching college in her first year. Laura has been under the care of an elderly grandmother who is just a peasant farmer. Her dream is to become a nurse one day God willing. She was referred to Still Hope by her school head teacher who heard about still hope. She likes singing and playing girls’ soccer. She is praying and trusting God for destiny helper who will support and education and other basic needs. Any help to her will be highly appreciated.

Sheila is the second born in a family of three children. Her father died in 2011 due to malaria and chest pain leaving the children with their mother. Later their mother abandoned them in the hands of their 70 year old grandmother who couldn’t provide for them even the basic needs. On visiting them at their home we realized that they had no proper food or medical attention. They had rashes all over their body due to poor living conditions and hygiene. They were referred to Still Hope by a local government official of the area (Chief). Sheila likes singing, reading and dancing. Her dream is to become a lawyer when she grows up.

Lilian is a total orphan was born in a village known as Kagan West; she comes from a family of four siblings where she is the second born. She lost both her parents when she was 8 years old in 2012, and she was left under the guardianship of her grandmother who is a widow and cannot provide for her anymore. Lilian was referred to Still Hope center through their area chief. She likes storytelling and singing. She has finished high school and now waiting to join college next month. She is hoping to be a nurse; she is also praying to get a sponsor by God’s grace.

Lovine is the fourth born in a family of four siblings. She became a partial orphan after the death of her father who died in the year 20002. Due to that they were left with their mother as the sole provider of the family needs. Her mother is only doing small scale farming which cannot support or sustain the family needs. Lovine was referred to Still Hope through their chief who is the local government administrator of area where the center is situated. Lovine is doing well in her academic work. She loves singing and playing hopscotch with her fellows, and she hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.

Emily is the second born in a family of three siblings. Her mother Milker Awuor Ochieng’ died in February 2009 when she was just a little girl of 4yrs old. Her father is still alive but cannot do anything since he became insane a few years after he married. After the death of the mother, Emily and her brothers went to stay with their old grandmother who had an on and off illness. In 2014 the grandmother passed away and left them desperate with no one to attend to them. The only uncle she had did not care for them, so they started to work for people who could give them a little food. By August 2014, life became so hard that they decided to beg on the streets of Oyugis for food, clothing and a shelter. Emily says her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes playing soccer, singing, fetching water and collecting firewood.

Lydia is the second born in a family of four. She was made a total orphan after the death of her parents who died of HIV/AIDS in the year 2006 and 2011 respectively. Due to that situation, Lydia and her four siblings were left vulnerable without anybody to take care of them. That is when she was referred to us by their head teacher who was aware of Still Hope. She is among the residential children of Still Hope center. In her academic work she is also among the best and she is looking forward to be a nurse at the end of her studies. She likes singing, playing volleyball and reading story books.

Solomon is the second born in a family of two siblings He is 16 years old partial orphan. He lost his father when he was nine. His mother who is HIV/Aids positive is seriously sick and unable to take care of her family. Solomon has been living under the guardianship of his grandmother. He scored very good marks last year but could not join the high school of his merit because no one would pay for him school fees. So he decided to join a nearby day school whose standard is not very good. He had accumulated areas in the first and he was contemplating dropping out when schools resume in January next year. He is so talented in writing songs and singing, he is also a very good bible teacher and a footballer. His dream is to become a chemical Engineer or a lawyer one day. Your monthly support will ensure that Solomon gets good education, food and shelter. Above all she gets the opportunity to build his personality and to grow up in the knowledge and fear of God.

Emma joined Still hope in 2016. She is now a student at Masinde Muliro Univsersity of Technology and Agriculture. She is a very vulnerable child. Her mother was mentally incapacitated seven years ago. Her father has been sick and seriously bed-ridden for more than four years now. Emma being the first born in a family of four had dropped out of school so that she could look for a job. Their school headmistress heard about this and brought her to Still Hope. Now she has been in Still Hope for seven years and has been able to go to school normally. Emma is a very bright child always in top five of her class. However, she has not been lucky to get a sponsor. Her dream is to become a quantity surveyor one day God willing.

Since then they were left in the hands of their mother as a peasant family. When we visited Laura and her family we had compassion on her due to their poor living conditions. She was referred to us by a pastor who was aware of Still Hope. She is now among the residential children in Still Hope center. In her academic work she is doing well and she is among the best and she is looking forward to be a judge at the end of her final studies. She loves singing, acting, drama in school and reading the Bible.
